The Government of Yukon maintains a growing collection of visual art. Currently, it includes over 500 pieces. Works in the collection represent Yukon artists' practices or are significant to the legacy of Yukon art.
The collection includes works in a variety of media including:
- First Nations traditional and contemporary art;
- prints;
- photographs;
- carvings;
- sculpture;
- textiles;
- paintings;
- drawings; and
- mixed media.

Works from the collection are displayed in public buildings in Whitehorse, Dawson, Faro, Haines Junction and Mayo for the enjoyment of Yukoners and visitors.
Periodically you can see artwork from the collection at exhibitions curated by the Government of Yukon's art curator or when works are loaned to other institutions.

Submit your work to the collection
We hold an annual call for submissions in collaboration with the Friends of Yukon Permanent Art Collection Society. During this time, we welcome Yukon artists to submit an application to have their artwork considered for the collection.
Yukon residents of all backgrounds, at any stage of their creative paths and from all communities are invited to apply. This includes but is not limited to:
- Indigenous, Black, and racialized people;
- Refugees, newcomers and immigrants;
- LGBTQ+, Two-Spirit and non-binary people;
- People with disabilities and;
- Those with low incomes or living in poverty.

Selection process and budget
The Friends of Yukon Permanent Art Collection are a charitable, non-profit society. The society's acquisitions committee makes selections from all eligible submissions. They ensure works of art in the collection are unique, high quality and relevant to Yukon and/or the legacy of Yukon artists.
The minimum annual budget for acquisitions is $60,000. New acquisitions are announced and exhibited each year after the selection process.

The Friends of Yukon Permanent Art Collection society reviews donations under the same process as the call for submissions. Donors may be eligible to receive a tax receipt in return for their donations.
