Read QMUNITY's report and recommendations on LGBTQ2S+ inclusion in Yukon government services.
From November 2018 to March 2019, we held an LGBTQ2S+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, Two-Spirit, plus) public engagement. The aim was to encourage LGBTQ2S+ Yukoners and allies to share their insights on what is needed for Government of Yukon services to better meet the needs of LGBTQ2S+ Yukoners.
In May and June 2019 we ran a survey to help us prioritize what was heard during and after the engagement, and capture any comments that may have been missed. The survey was based on the phase one What We Heard report, which reflects the comments and submissions of the participants in the LGBTQ2S+ public engagement.
The intent of the engagement was to encourage LGBTQ2S+ Yukoners and allies to help us create an action plan to ensure that Government of Yukon services better meet the needs of LGBTQ2S+ Yukoners.
This comprehensive public engagement is part of our approach to reviewing legislation, policies, practices, programs, and services, and modernizing them to be non-discriminatory for LGBTQ2S+ Yukoners. This process is our government’s formal way of gathering comprehensive input, so that we can develop a thoughtful and coordinated government-wide approach to LGBTQ2S+ inclusion in our services.
We will use the input from this engagement to develop an action plan that will help build LGBTQ2S+ inclusion in Government of Yukon programs and services.
