Survivors of gender-based violence with low to moderate income can apply for the Canada-Yukon Housing Benefit Gender-Based Violence subsidy to find and keep safe housing.
When we receive applications, we:
- review them to see if they’re eligible; and
- send a letter to the applicant with details about their application and eligibility.
If the program becomes fully subscribed, we:
- continue reviewing applications; and
- put eligible applicants on a waitlist.
We will contact eligible applicants when there is space in the program.
Who is eligible for this subsidy
To be eligible for the Canada-Yukon Housing Benefit Gender-Based Violence rent subsidy you must:
- have experienced gender-based violence;
- provide verification of gender-based violence form from a third-party verifier;
- be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident or refugee status;
- live in the Yukon;
- have an annual household income (combined income of all adults 19 or older who are living in the home) under the Affordable Household Income Limits;
- provide a current Notice of Assessment for all adults 19 years and older in the household; and
- provide a current residential tenancy lease agreement showing your monthly rent payment.
How to apply
- Fill out the application form.
- Attach the required documents:
- The completed application form.
- 1 piece of government issued photo identification for anyone 19 years and older.
- 1 piece of government issued identification for anyone 18 years and older.
- Notice of assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency for the most recent tax year for anyone 19 years old and over in your household.
- A copy of your current lease agreement.
- If you receive social assistance, a copy of your most recent budget sheet.
- Submit your completed application form to Yukon Housing Corporation:
