Statement from Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn on municipal elections

Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn has issued the following statement:

“On October 17, Yukoners across the territory cast their ballots in their respective municipal elections.

“Voting is a powerful way for Yukoners to have their voices heard and shape the future of their community. It’s an opportunity to support  those who put their name forward to represent you on municipal council and to speak out on issues that matter the most to you. By casting your vote, you are contributing to the vibrant democracy we cherish here in the Yukon and across the country.

“Of course, voting would not be possible without individuals having the courage to step up and putting their name forward. This year, there was excellent candidate turnout in all municipalities. I applaud everyone who ran for a seat on council.

“To the incoming councils, I wish you the best of luck in what is now a four-year term. Your councils and the Community Services department will work closely together. I look forward to fostering relationships with you so we can continue to work toward strong, resilient and vibrant communities.

“To the outgoing councils, thank you for your service to your communities over the past three years.”
