Minister of Health and Social Services Tracy-Anne McPhee has issued the following statement:
“Today we mark an important moment as the Yukon Hospital Corporation begins to transition its leadership. At the end of October, Jason Bilsky will be departing the Yukon Hospital Corporation after 12 years of dedicated service as CEO. Effective October 15, Tiffany Boyd has assumed the role of CEO, working alongside Jason to support this transition.
“I would like to take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to Jason for his remarkable contributions to our health system. Under his leadership, we have seen significant expansion of critical services, such as the Whitehorse General Hospital’s emergency department, the in-territory orthopedics program, the introduction of diagnostics services, including the first MRI service in Canada’s North and the opening of community hospitals in Watson Lake and Dawson City. Jason’s unwavering commitment to ensuring high-quality health care and fostering partnerships with Yukon First Nations has left a lasting, positive impact on our hospital system.
“Jason’s leadership has navigated the Yukon through significant challenges and growth, and his focus on inclusivity and quality care has laid the groundwork for continued success. On behalf of our government, we wish you all the best in your well-deserved retirement.
“At the same time, I am very pleased to welcome Tiffany Boyd as the new CEO of the Yukon Hospital Corporation. Tiffany’s appointment comes at a critical time as we continue our journey to transform health care in the territory. During her time as Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services, Tiffany demonstrated visionary leadership, playing a key role in supporting the passage of the Yukon Health Authority Act, which sets the foundation for the creation of Shäw Kwä’ą/Health and Wellness Yukon/Santé et mieux-être Yukon. This new health authority will integrate services and streamline care for all Yukoners.
“Tiffany’s nearly two decades of leadership, particularly in areas like health human resources, system sustainability and reconciliation, make her the right person to guide Yukon hospitals through this dynamic period. Her deep connection to our territory and commitment to collaboration, cultural safety and continuous improvement will serve Yukoners well as we navigate the health challenges ahead.
“We look forward to continuing to work closely with the Yukon Hospital Corporation as we build a strong, responsive health care system. Once again, thank you to Jason for your service, and congratulations to Tiffany on your new role.
Together, we will ensure the continued delivery and improvements of safe, excellent care for Yukoners. “
