Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:
“I extend my warmest wishes to everyone celebrating Diwali. This Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Buddhist festival of lights represents the triumph of good over evil and the power of knowledge over ignorance. It is a time for reflection, renewal and the strengthening of community bonds.
“Diwali serves as a reminder of the values all Yukoners hold dear – compassion, kindness and unity. In our community, let us celebrate the vibrant cultures that contribute to our shared identity.
“I look forward to the Diwali celebration being held at the Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre on November 2, which promises to be filled with music, dance, traditional foods and wonderful celebrations.
“I hope Diwali inspires all Yukoners to light the way for others, fostering understanding and cooperation among all.
“I encourage everyone to embrace the spirit of Diwali by spreading joy and generosity in our neighbourhoods and communities. Together, let us illuminate the lives of those around us and work towards a brighter, more inclusive future.
“On behalf of the Government of Yukon, I want to wish all Yukoners a Diwali full of prosperity, peace and good health! Tuhanu Diwali diyan boht both vadhaiyan.”
