Statement from Premier Pillai on British Columbia election

Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the Government of Yukon, I would like to congratulate Premier David Eby and the British Columbia New Democratic Party on their success in the B.C. provincial election.

“I look forward to continuing our collaboration as we advocate for northerners and western Canadians on the bilateral, subnational and national stage. Together, we have made significant strides to advance the use of renewable energy, particularly in connecting the Yukon and B.C. electrical grids, as well as on critical issues such as the recruitment and retention of health care personnel, dual-use infrastructure and Arctic security and sovereignty. 

“The Yukon-B.C. partnership is built on a strong foundation and the longstanding history of cooperation between our two governments. Our shared values of conservation, environmentalism, a focus on affordability and the commitment to working with First Nations unites our jurisdictions. Together, alongside our southern neighbours, I am committed to advancing these shared goals, as well as all others that promote the wellbeing of all residents the Yukon and B.C.”
