The Forestry Support Program helps forestry commercial harvesters and retailers in the Yukon. The program gives funding to help businesses buy equipment and pay for services.
Application period
You can apply for funding on eligible purchases made between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024.
We’ll accept applications until March 31, 2024, or until funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.
Eligibility
You’re eligible if you’re a:
Commercial timber harvester
You must:
- be registered as a commercial timber harvesting business in the Yukon;
- have a valid Yukon Corporate Registry number for the application period; and
- be up to date with your timber reporting at the date of application.
You are not eligible if you’re in arrears under the Forest Resources Act.
Retailer
You must:
- be registered as a commercial retail business in the Yukon; and
- have a valid Yukon Corporate Registry number for the application period.
Funding amounts and eligible purchases
You must provide proof of purchase receipts to receive funding.
Funding for commercial timber harvesters depends on your harvester category.
You can find out what category you fall into with the commercial timber harvest allocation procedure.
If you’re a retailer, you’re eligible for the same funding as category 1 to 3 harvesters.
Category 1 to 3 and retailers
You can get up to 100 per cent of the costs for the local purchase, repair or upgrade of the following items.
- Harvest equipment
- Work vehicle (including a trailer)
- Personal protective equipment
- Environmental protection equipment – fuel spill kits, fire prevention equipment
You can receive up to a total of $750 in funding.
Category 4
You can get up to 75 per cent of the costs for the local purchase, repair or upgrade of the following items.
- Harvest equipment
- Work vehicle (including a trailer)
- Personal protective equipment
- Environmental protection equipment – fuel spill kits, fire prevention equipment
You’re also eligible for up to 75 per cent of the costs of the following services.
- Planning costs – related to timber harvest planning and Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB) assessments
- Administration costs – income tax or accounting support
You can receive up to a total of $7,500 in funding.
Category 5
You can get up to 75 per cent of the costs of the local purchase, repair or upgrade of the following items.
- Harvest equipment
- Work vehicle (including a trailer)
- Personal protective equipment
- Environmental protection equipment – fuel spill kits, fire prevention equipment
You’re also eligible for up to 75 per cent of the costs of the following services.
- Planning costs – related to timber harvest planning and YESAB assessments
- Administration costs – income tax or accounting support
You can receive up to a total of $15,000 in funding.
Funding for items not listed
Your application can include goods or services that are not listed above. In that case, the program manager will review your application to see if you’re eligible for funding.
Ineligible costs
You cannot receive funding for:
- maintenance or purchase of personal vehicles;
- fuel;
- labour costs; and
- goods or services funded by other Government of Yukon programs.
Apply for the program
- Download and complete the application form.
- You can pick up hard copies of the form at your local Compliance, Monitoring and Inspections office and the Forest Management Branch.
- Attach the required proof of purchase receipts.
Submit your application to the Forest Management Branch.

After you apply
After you’ve submitted your application, we’ll review it. We review applications on a first-come, first-served basis.
We’ll let you know if we've approved or rejected your application within 3 weeks. We’ll reach you through your preferred method of contact.
Resubmitting your application
If your application is rejected, you can adjust and resubmit it. A resubmitted application is considered a new application. This means it will go to the back of the application queue. We review applications in the order we receive them.
