You must get formal permission if you want to film at an airport or aerodrome in Yukon.
Before you apply
Plan ahead and give yourself lots of lead time.
You must make your filming request 5 business days before you plan on starting filming. If you apply within less than 5 business days your application may be denied. We may need more time to process your request if the scope changes substantially before filming.
Apply
- Contact Aviation branch for filming requests
- Provide details on the type and purpose of filming, size of film crew, locations within the airport or aerodrome and dates and times.
- If we're able to meet your request, we will send you a Project Scoping Document to complete.
- You will also need to provide proof of insurance when you submit your application.
- After your application has been approved, Government of Yukon will provide a licence agreement for your activity. The agreement covers your liability, outlines our requirements and specifies how, when, where and who is permitted to occupy airport lands.
On-site filming requirements
- Respect the direction of airport operational and security staff at all times.
- Be prepared to produce identification.
- You are not permitted to film security screening points and security personnel.
Access to restricted areas
You must be escorted by a person who possesses a Transportation Security Clearance if you need access to a restricted area of an airport.
We will inform you during the application process if you will need a security escort. There may be a cost associated with this.
If you are required to have a security escort, phone 867-667-8803 to make arrangements with the Supervisor, Safety and Security.
Filming airport tenants and passengers
Production companies are responsible for getting permission from any airport passengers and tenants who are being filmed.
Airports passengers and tenants are under no obligation to allow themselves to be filmed.
