Join the Yukon Emergency Medical Services team

Join the Yukon's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team as a emergency medical responder. Our communities trust and respect our team members.

Do you live in a rural or remote area and want to make a difference? If so, then becoming an emergency medical responder (EMR) might be what you're looking for.

The government employs EMRs on an on-call, part-time basis. During an EMR's on-call shift, they carry a radio. They have the freedom to pursue other work and activities. When called out, pay increases to a standard hourly rate.

Why become an EMR in your community?

Being an EMR with the Yukon EMS team is a rewarding and meaningful experience. There are many benefits to you and your community.

  • Serve your community and contribute to overall community wellbeing.
  • Learn new skills and gain confidence in emergency situations.
  • Take part in free and flexible training that works around your schedule.
  • Receive a Yukon EMS uniform and join a team of dedicated professionals.
  • Make your own schedule and work when and how often you want to.
  • Earn $7.70 for every hour you spend on-call, and up to $30.74 for every hour you spend at work or attending training. You'll also receive a recruitment bonus.
