The Government of Yukon provides the public access to aerial photographs and satellite images of Yukon.
Aerial photographs
Aerial photographs are the most detailed images available of communities and transportation corridors. Orthophotos are aerial photographs that have been corrected. In orthophotos, the distances are uniform and can be measured like a map. You can view orthophotos on GeoYukon in the aerial photographs layer under base maps. You can also print and download aerial photographs using tools in GeoYukon.
Air photo is another term for aerial photograph. Digitized air photos are not corrected and are not orthophotos. You can view and download digitized air photos and their flight lines on GeoYukon.

Satellite images
These images are photographs of the Earth’s surface taken from a satellite. These satellite images are organized into 3 groups. The groupings are based on their resolution or level of detail.
- High resolution, where you can see details less than 1 metre wide.
- Medium resolution, where you can see details between 1 metre and 5 metres wide.
- Low resolution, where you can see details more than 5 metres wide.
You can view satellite images on GeoYukon under base maps. You can print satellite images but not download them because of licensing restrictions.
You can use image data services to access aerial photographs and satellite images for your own private use. For example, to display an image on your digital map. We update image services automatically when data is created or changed. You cannot use these images for commercial purposes.
