We wanted to hear your views on the approaches we’re considering for new minerals legislation. We’ve developed these approaches in collaboration with Yukon First Nations.

We wanted to know what you think about the approaches and how they could support:

  • a strong and viable industry in the future;
  • environmental protection;
  • Indigenous rights; and
  • healthy and sustainable Yukon communities.

We are seeking input from the mining industry and other large industrial facilities that may qualify for inclusion in the federal Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS).

The OBPS is a federal program for large facilities that provides an alternative to the regular carbon levy. This program is designed to encourage emission reductions while maintaining competitiveness for energy-intensive and trade-exposed industries.

We want input from the mining industry and other interested groups about our plan on intensity-based emission targets. These targets seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Yukon.

This will help us meet our commitment to set these targets by the end of 2022.

The Liquor Act is 40 years old and parts of the legislation are no longer relevant. The Yukon Liquor Corporation wants Yukon citizens to help guide the drafting of an updated Act. An updated Act will reflect best practices, meet modern-day realities and future needs. It will also allow us to balance social responsibilities and local economic opportunities.

The goal of the agriculture policy is to encourage the growth of the agriculture industry so that it:

  • produces high-quality products for local consumption;
  • is economically viable;
  • operates in an environmentally sustainable way; and
  • contributes to community well-being.

The agriculture policy sets out the government’s priorities and actions for supporting agriculture development in the Yukon.

We asked the public and members of the film and media industries to help us review our film funding programs. A lot has changed for the industry since the funding programs were created more than a decade ago. We are ready for an updated approach that helps Yukon film and media producers to stay competitive in today’s market.

We are looking for input to help determine the funding program structure that best supports departmental clients and assists in the development of the Yukon economy.

We are seeking comments on potential improvements to the following three funding programs, which includes a proposal to combine them into a single funding program to support a broader range of economic development activities in Yukon: Regional Economic Development Fund; Strategic Industries Development Fund; and Enterprise Trade Fund.
