Eligibility
- You were born in Yukon.
- If you are a Yukoner under the age of 16, your application must be completed by a parent, guardian or a person authorized by the Supreme Court on your behalf.
Apply to change sex on a birth registration
Most people applying to change sex on a birth registration also apply for a new birth certificate. You can apply for both at the same time when you complete your application.
- Complete the change of sex registration form for applicants 16 years of age and over or applicants under 16 years of age.
- Submit your completed application. There is a $10 fee for the change. If you are applying for a new birth certificate at the same time, include the $10 fee for a new certificate.

If you've applied for a birth certificate, you will get your new certificate in the mail. This confirms your application to change sex has gone through.
If you haven't applied for a birth certificate at the same time, you can email vital.statistics@gov.yk.ca to confirm the change has been made and then apply for a new birth certificate.
