Get the training to serve alcohol (BARS-L)

The Yukon Liquor Corporation recommends the Be A Responsible Server - Liquor (BARS-L) course for all sellers/servers in the Yukon.

This free self-study course is designed for licensees, sellers, servers, bartenders and permit holders to understand their responsibilities on the job.

This course will cover a number of topics, including:

• learning the health risks and effects of alcohol;

• understanding the legal rules and responsibilities of serving or selling liquor;

• recognizing and preventing intoxication; and

• managing of and refusing entry to underage, intoxicated or impaired customers.

BARS-L self-study program

The course will take about 3 to 4 hours to complete. You have 30 days after you register to complete the course and test. If you do not complete the course within this time you will have to register again. To gain certification, you need to score 80% at the end of each unit test.
