Eligibility
You can renew your driver's licence:
- up to 6 months before the expiry date of your current Yukon driver's licence; or
- within 2 years of your last Yukon driver's licence's expiration date.
If your licence has been expired for more than 2 years you have to retake your written and road tests.
Renew your driver's licence
- Download and complete the renewal application form and take it to your nearest Motor Vehicles office. You can also pick up the form in the office.
- Bring your old Yukon driver's licence and 1 document that proves your Yukon residency. If you wear corrective lenses, bring them with you as we'll give you a vision test.
- Pay the renewal fee by cash, credit card or debit.
- $100 to renew for 5 years.
- $20 to renew for 1 year.
After you've paid the renewal fee, we'll issue you a temporary licence that will be valid for 90 days. Your new driver's licence will be printed within 3 business days and be mailed to you by Canada Post. The Canada Post delivery standard is 4-10 days. You should allow up to 4 weeks for delivery.
