To get a certificate of name reservation, you must submit the following to our office:
- submit Form 1 ‒ Application for name reservation;
- pay the $60 fee; or
- complete the name reservation on the Yukon Corporate Online Registry (YCOR) and pay $40 by credit card.
Follow these steps to register a business name.
If the proposed name complies with the requirements of the Naming Regulation, we'll issue a certificate of name reservation valid for 90 days. The process can take up to 5 business days.

The information you provide on the form must be legible. Also make sure to complete each section.

Section 1: Type of organization
Check off only the box that applies to the type of entity chosen. Only one can be checked. Choose carefully, changes are not allowed after the process is complete.
Section 2: Name requested
Include the name you're requesting for use in Yukon.
Section 3: Name of applicant
Use the name of the person whose name you want to appear on the certificate of reservation. If you're submitting the application for someone else, their name must be on the certificate as the applicant. Use of the approved name belongs to the applicant and they must be who registers the name.
Section 4: Mailing address
Include the mailing address of the applicant. This is where the confirmation will be sent.
Section 5: Signature of applicant
Include the signature of the applicant.
Section 6: Date
Include the date the form was signed.
Review the form
Review the form carefully and make sure all the information is accurate. We will not issue a refund for any mistake made on the form.
Submit your documents and pay your fees
After the form is completed, submit it along with the fee. The cost of filing an application for name reservation is $60 in-person and $40 online.
How to pay
You can pay by:
- cheque;
- credit card;
- cash; or
- debit card.
Cheque
Provide a cheque in the appropriate amount made out to Government of Yukon.
Credit card
We accept Visa, Master Card and American Express payment at the office. If you send your documents by fax, email or mail, provide a phone number where we can reach you. This is so you can give us your credit card information.
Cash or debit
Payment in cash or with a debit card can only be made in person at our office: 307 Black Street, 1st floor
Deliver your documents to us
You can drop off forms at our office or in our secure drop box in the lobby.
When you put your forms in our secure drop box, you can include:
- cash;
- cheque; or
- a payment information form to contact you for credit card payments.

Reserve a name online
You can also complete the application for name reservation Yukon Corporate Online Registry (YCOR) and pay by credit card.
How to register online
- Select “Reserve a name as a guest”.
- Select "Name type":
- "Standard reservation"; or
- "Assumed name" ‒ an assumed name is according to section 281 of the Business Corporations Act.
- Enter the proposed name.
- Enter the applicant’s name. This is the name of the person registering the entity. This name will be shown on the certificate of reservation if the name is approved.
- Enter the name of an authorized agent if it applies.
- Enter the applicant or authorized agent’s email address. This reservation confirmation and payment receipt will be sent to this address. The email address of the person submitting the reservation is required.
- Enter the mailing address. This is required.
- Carefully review the form and make sure all the information is accurate as we will not issue refunds for mistakes made on the form
- When you've completed and reviewed the form, click “Pay and submit”.
