You have to notify the registrar within 30 days of making a change on a declaration of a business name.
You must send notice to the registrar using the proper form and pay the fee.
Changes that can be made:
- Address of business name
- Address of the person using the business name
- Change to the name of business name
- Change of the person using the name. This includes changes from:
- individual to individual;
- individual to entity; or
- entity to individual.
How to fill out the forms
The information you provide on forms must be legible. Also make sure to complete each section.
Notice of change of information in declaration of business name
Download and complete Form 9 ‒ Notice of change of information in declaration of business name.
Section 1: Business name
The name must match the name appearing on the original declaration.
Section 2: Yukon registry number
Include the Yukon registry number.
Section 3: Date business name declared
Include the date your declaration was filed.
Section 4: Effective date of change
Include the date the changes came into effect.
Section 5: Name of person using business name
Include the name of person using business name.
A business name registered under the applicant’s personal name
Fill out the:
- last name; and
- first name.
A business name registered under an entity's name
Fill in the:
- name of the entity and their Yukon registry number;
- last name and first name of the individual signing for the entity; and
- the individual’s relationship to the entity.
Sign and date the form.
To change the name of the person using the business name
- The previous person’s name and signature must be on Form 9 ‒ Notice of change of information in declaration of business name.
- The new person using the business name would enter their information on Form 8 ‒ Declaration of business name and sign it.
Declaration of business name
Download and complete Form 8 ‒ Declaration of business name. Only fill in the sections that are being changed.
Section 1: Business name
The name must match the name appearing on the original declaration.
Section 2: Address of business
“Delivery address” refers to a physical location. Include an address or other description to identify a person’s home or place of business. This must not include a post office box.
Section 3: Mailing address
“Mailing address” refers to where you send mail. Include a complete mailing address, including the postal code. This address can be a person’s home, place of business or post office box.
Section 4: Date use of business name began
Include the date the use of the business name began. This information cannot be changed.
Section 5: Person using the business name
A business name registered under the applicant’s personal name
Fill out the:
- last name;
- first name; and
- mailing address.
A business name registered under an entity's name
Fill in the:
- name of the entity and their Yukon registry number;
- last name and first name of the individual signing for the entity; and
- the individual’s relationship to the entity; and
- the mailing address for the entity.
Sign and date the form.
After the forms are completed, submit them along with the fee. The cost of a notice of change of information in declaration of business name is $25.

How to pay
You can pay by:
- cheque;

Cheque
Provide a cheque in the appropriate amount made out to Government of Yukon.
Credit card
We accept Visa, Master Card and American Express payment at the office. If you send your documents by fax, email or mail, provide a phone number where we can reach you. This is so you can give us your credit card information.
Cash or debit
Payment in cash or with a debit card can only be made in person at our office: 307 Black Street, 1st floor.
Processing time
After we've accepted and filed all your documents, you'll receive confirmation. The process can take up to 5 business days.
